The Southsea Coastal Scheme is the UK’s largest local authority-led coastal defence project, designed to protect more than 10,000 homes and 700 businesses in Portsmouth from tidal flooding. Spanning 4.5 km of coastline from Old Portsmouth to Eastney, the £180 million scheme involves the phased construction of new sea defences, including sea walls, stepped revetments, promenades, and public realm enhancements.

Moore Concrete have been appointed to supply a range of bespoke precast concrete elements as part of the coastal defence infrastructure. So far, we have made almost 3000 units. This includes:
In line with the project’s sustainability goals, Moore Concrete implemented low-carbon concrete mixes and optimised transportation logistics to reduce the carbon footprint of the precast elements. The offsite manufacturing process not only improved quality control but also contributed to safer, faster installation on site.
