Carla Lockhart Visits Moore Concrete
We were pleased to recently welcome Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart to Moore Concrete in her role as Agricultural Spokesperson for the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) at the House of Commons.
During her visit, we provided an overview of our wide range of products, followed by a tour of our manufacturing facility. At Moore Concrete, we design and manufacture precast solutions for the building, agricultural and civil engineering sectors, with agriculture accounting for just under 50% of our total turnover.
Supporting Modern Farming
We produce a variety of products that are in growing demand across farms throughout the UK and Ireland, including aboveground slurry stores, bunker walls, slip-resistant slats, water troughs and bespoke fencing solutions.
These solutions are designed to improve efficiency and durability on farms, helping agricultural businesses operate in a more sustainable and productive way.
During the visit, Carla reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the long-term future of agriculture in Northern Ireland, highlighting key priorities such as addressing the challenges posed by inheritance tax changes, developing a fit-for-purpose Nutrients’ Action Programme, reforming planning processes, and introducing balanced ammonia regulations.
As Carla noted:
“I fully recognise the key role played by agriculture at the very heart of Northern Ireland’s economy. It’s important that we build on all of this for the future.”
Investment and Sustainability
The visit also provided an opportunity to showcase the significant investment we have made in recent years, particularly in improving our environmental performance.
We have implemented a number of sustainability measures across our operations, including the exclusive use of green electricity and the use of our own borehole water supply, with water continuously recycled throughout the production process.
We have also developed innovative production systems that reduce cement content, and in some cases, enable us to manufacture concrete products using zero percent cement — significantly reducing energy consumption.
Environmental Product Declarations
As part of our commitment to transparency and sustainability, we have secured Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for a number of our manufacturing processes.
These independently verified documents provide clear information on the environmental impact of our products throughout their lifecycle, helping customers make more informed and sustainable choices.
As a business, we remain committed to supporting farmers by developing solutions that enhance both economic performance and environmental sustainability. Precast concrete has a strong track record in this area, and we will continue to explore how our products can support modern agriculture.
Working Together for the Future
We would like to thank Carla Lockhart for taking the time to visit our facility and learn more about the work we do.
We share a common objective — to secure the best possible future for agriculture in Northern Ireland. Through continued investment, innovation and collaboration between industry and policymakers, we believe we can play a key role in supporting the future of agriculture both locally and beyond.
