From 1 July 2013 it became mandatory for manufacturers to draw up a declaration of performance and apply CE marking to any of their construction products which are covered by a harmonised European standard.
The CE mark is a mandatory conformity marking for certain products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA) since 1985. In order to be awarded CE marking an organisation is judged on the following criteria –
- Technical specifications
- Performance level of products
- Factory production control
- Internal audits
It is also confirmation of the product’s quality as numerous quality checks are introduced in order to remain CE compliant.
