Attenuation Tank

Attenuation tanks are used to initially to collect excess water in a temporary storage chamber and then to slowly discharge this water in a controlled manner back into the water course or drainage system. The amount of discharge will vary depending whether it is a brown or greenfield site and the Dry Water Flow calculations.  Moore Concrete have developed a method of casting our box culverts which incorporates a sloping soffit, that is cast in a single operation with the main Culvert Unit. This single cast attenuation tank design offers a more robust alternative to a secondary cast. Moore Concrete has developed and designed this solution for recently secured attenuation projects. These units come with end walls, access points and pipe openings.

Attenuation Tank Applications

Ideal solution for regulating the surface water runoff, preventing downstream flooding and the existing infrastructure from being overwhelmed. The impact of increased development often interrupts the natural water flows and causes an increase in runoff coming from carparks, roofs and other development structures in today’s modern world. These issues could be alleviated by an increase in the size of storm water sewers or watercourse to create additional capacity, however this can be very costly or cause major infrastructure disruption, therefore making provisions by the addition of an attenuation tank forms in a more feasible solution. With the affect of climate change, provisions to avoid flooding and support the current infrastructure are likely to become increasingly important.
